Homerun for Safety Program

The Michigan Center for Truck Safety's Home Run for Safety Award is given to those companies and drivers that complete the Center's professional driver advanced safety training curriculum:

(Michigan Center for Decision Driving in Marshall or the Upper Peninsula Decision Driving Course in Escanaba). To receive a certificate for completing the Fatigue Management program you must fill out the certificate registration form (see the link below).

The Center will mail your award directly to you. Companies are eligible to receive the award once their drivers have completed the Home Run for Safety program. Once all Home Run courses are completed, you must register to receive the award. Please contact us with questions.

2011 Home Run for Safety Company Award -- Michigan Packaging Company Honored

Michigan Packaging Company is presented with the Center for Truck Safety’s Home Run for Safety Company Award.   Michigan Packaging Company’s is one of only eight companies who have made the commitment to truck safety and earned the Center’s highest award.  Jamie Sleight, Safety Coordinator for Michigan Packaging Company accepted the award from MCTS Project Director, Jill Skutar

To receive the Home Run for Safety Award a driver must complete the Center’s four core Safety Programs.  They include Professional Driver Coaching, the National Safety Council’s Defensive Driving Course, the Decision Driving Course (skid pads) and the online Fatigue Awareness program.   

Once every company driver has completed the all the core programs and the company completes the Center’s Safety Management Program, a company is qualified to receive the Home Run for Safety Company Award.

Safety Awards are presented during the annual Michigan Safety Awards Banquet, held annually in February, in conjunction with the Michigan Truck Exposition and Safety Symposium.  This year’s speaker was Michigan’s Secretary of State, Ruth Johnson.
