simulator

The Mobile Truck Safety Simulator program is up and running and training has begun. The Michigan Center for Truck Safety is currently scheduling training for the simulator.
There are seven courses on the simulator. All programs include instructor-led, computer-based and simulator training. The Circles of Influence course is recommended first.

It takes approximately four hours to complete one course. The simulator will accommodate up to four students at one time. A student’s progress through the courses is
electronically filed and driving reports are available at the conclusion of each course. For each course completed, the student will receive a certificate of completion.

Hosting Partner Opportunities:
If your company has a secured site, the mobile unit can be brought to your location for a dedicated period of time. Individuals from your company will be trained and
qualified to operate the simulator. A secured site would be one with a fenced area and either a 24-hour operation or a 24-hour security detail. The unit requires a fueling
source for its generators or two 220-volt 50-amp connections for shore power (recommended). The hosting company has student priority but will be asked to make a
trainer available for one class per week to an outside company.

There are currently host locations in:

And coming soon Galesburg, Livonia, Grand Rapids.

Training Partner Opportunities: The Center is seeking qualified individuals to become part of our volunteer training team. Building a state-wide pool of instructors
is cost effective. If you are near a hosting location and meet the criteria, you may be able to be qualified as an instructor for the simulator. Good candidates for trainers
are individuals who are organized, have some experience in safety training, and are computer literate, can facilitate training programs and provide objective feedback.
