Driver Education for Teens and Mature Drivers
Driving safely around trucks

The Michigan Center for Truck Safety (MCTS) has developed two video clips in digital format entitled "Sharing the Road: Driving Safely around Trucks" One video targets the experienced automobile driver who is unfamiliar with how commercial vehicles stop, turn and maneuver, while the other targets driver education students with little or no on road driving experience.

Both video's in (DVD format) provide instruction for automobile operators regarding safely operating their vehicle around the larger commercial vehicles that share the state's road ways, providing tips and information such as

'vehicles can be hidden from the truck driver while traveling in areas that are not visible in the trucks mirrors" , "a truck traveling at 55 miles per hour will need need 476.7 feet to bring their vehicle to a complete stop" and "it is unsafe for vehicles to pull forward of the white line at intersections and stop signs". There are accompanying brochures for each DVD, available for download or order.

If you are from an organization or trucking company in Michigan and would like to obtain a copy of these videos, they are available for download 24/7 on our web site: Sharing the road video's. To obtain a hard copy, please call our office at (800) 682-4682, ext. 11.
